009 Single Fairlie Inspired Narrow Gauge Tram Locomotive Kit

from £27.00

This locomotive kit is inspired by the distinctive Single Fairlie locomotives of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. This kit is designed to fit the Kato 11-105 chassis, which replicates the Single Fairlie's unique 0-4-4T dual pivoting wheel configuration.  A non-prototypical tram fairing covers the wheels.

This kit is an ideal solution for those looking to model a locomotive that seamlessly integrates with roadways, thanks to its boxed-in running gear and can be added to a readily available ready to run chassis.  It requires some assembly and painting, but the model is an easy fit onto the chassis.

Features:

  • Design Inspiration: Modelled after the rare Single Fairlie locomotives that are still operational on the preserved Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways.

  • Chassis Compatibility: Designed to fit the Kato 11-105 dual bogie chassis, offering excellent performance and stability.

  • Included in Kit: Locomotive body, cab, and couplings.

  • Not Included: Kato chassis, paints, and handrails. (Please note, the Kato 11-105 chassis is required for assembly - I can supply this model with or without chassis, select which when you checkout.)

Perfect For: Railway enthusiasts and modellers who appreciate unique, historical locomotive designs and seek a detailed, custom solution for their layout.

Transform your railway with this one-of-a-kind Single Fairlie locomotive kit and bring a piece of railway history to life!

Feel free to reach out with any questions or for more details. Happy modelling!

Skirtless Version: Note this model kit is designed to use a readily available chassis and be made with a modicum of care and skills.  Some modellers have asked if I can supply the kit without the skirts, so that they can make a more realistic model.  I'd be happy to supply this, but it will take skills to fit it to a chassis.  People have successfully adapted this model to run on Kato Small England chassis combined with a Dapol Gresley Bogie and on a heavily modified Bachmann Double Fairlie bogie set.  The skirtless model will require a certain amount of fitting to the chassis, but I'm happy to supply it. If you'd like one, order the 'skirtless without chassis' option.
